Algo trading platform for Indian markets
Algorithmic trading replaces gut feeling with written rules: entry, exit, position size and a maximum loss. Trade Shastra gives Indian traders a place to build those rules, test them on history, and watch them run on paper before deciding whether to trust them.
Get startedWhat you can do with it
- Backtest rule-based strategies on NSE and BSE stocks, indices and ETFs, and compare them against a buy-and-hold benchmark.
- Run strategies as paper bots that make simulated trades every day, with a public track record you can inspect.
- Scan the market for momentum, breakout and mean-reversion setups instead of watching charts all day.
- Size every position with built-in risk tools: stop-loss, trailing bands, position calculator and daily drawdown limits.
Honest about results
- Backtests are not promises. Many strategies fail to beat plain buy-and-hold after costs, and Trade Shastra shows that comparison rather than hiding it.
- Returns are reported on the capital actually deployed, with costs included, so idle cash does not flatter the number.
Built for India first
- Rupee-denominated books, NSE/BSE symbols, Indian market hours and Nifty benchmarks.
- Read-only connection to Indian brokers such as Kotak Neo for portfolio tracking. Real order placement is locked off by default and needs explicit, time-limited arming by you.
Frequently asked questions
Is algo trading legal in India?
Yes. Retail algorithmic trading through a registered broker is permitted, subject to SEBI and exchange rules that continue to evolve. Check your broker's current policy before automating live orders.
Does Trade Shastra place real orders?
Out of the box it runs paper (simulated) trading only. Live order routing is disabled unless you deliberately enable and arm it, and it is capped by risk limits.
Is Trade Shastra a SEBI-registered advisor?
No. It is a research, backtesting and paper-trading tool, not investment advice. Do your own research or consult a registered adviser.
Trade Shastra is a research and paper-trading tool, not a SEBI-registered investment adviser. Trading and investing involve risk of loss; past performance does not guarantee future results.
